Undergraduates donated to the Clinic-Clowns Project Freiburg

Sarah Wintermantel, Linda Schittenhelm, Theresa Beckenbauer and Christina Lindgen, all of them participants in ANGELL Business School’s Bacherlor programme went to Freiburg’s children’s clinic to hand the Clinic-Clowns Freiburg a cheque in the amount of 1030 Euro. Katrin Raith, also part of the team, could unfortunately not participate in the event. The students collected the money by doing several charity activities like the “X-Mas Poetry Slam” or serving guests at the “Forum Tourismus” (Speaker: Otto Lindner, Lindner Hotels). After having received the cheque the Clinic-Clowns “Macke” (Olaf Creutzberg) and “Schraube” (Dirk Maibauer-Scharpf) talked with our Bachelor students about their work with children in the hospital.

The “clown doctors” -that is the way they call themselves- visit the young patients once or twice per week and make them smile by showing legerdemains and sketches. Both parents and children embrace this offer and are happy for this way of entertainment: “One boy firstly declared to dislike clowns”, says Olaf Creutzburg, “but then he followed us through the corridors for the whole day.” The young patients are visibly enjoying the special doctors’ visits. Some of them are even talking more to them than to the medical clinic staff because of the special relationship that those clowns are having with them.

Due to the fact that the project is financed from donations only, the joy over the ANGELL-Cheque was very large. As a gift for their commitment all involved persons received a red clown nose from the hospital.
